For the love of the CATizen

Well, it had to happen one day. My time here is coming to an end. I want you to know this decision was difficult to make, and I hope nobody thinks I am being disloyal by making this move. I've made it after a lot of soul searching, and I believe it is the right decision for me to make at this time.

People will know, I'm sure (I hope); that I've always given my best in the time I've been here. And you all have made me very welcome since the day one, 5 years ago. It’s been great working with each and everyone of you.Thank you for all the help and support that you have given to me throughout the years.

Special thanks to En Rohizam for giving me an opportunity to learn and develop myself until what I'm today.

As for IT Department, Nurezali, Jeffry, Kamal, Khussairiee & Ali, good luck and thanks again for being passion with me for all this years.

By the way incase you guys need to contact me, my phone number still the same but my new email is _____@gmail.com. Keep in touch everybody.

Thanks again for everything.

Yours truly,

Azizul Ameir

AJAX Star Rating System

I'm looking for any AJAX star rating + ColdFusion as the back end. I Googled it, and I can say there is none. The closest I can find is from Masuga codes run with PHP. I configure it on our dev. server, it works fine.

I guess I got to get my hand dirty again if I want to do it in ColdFusion.

How to be self employed

Today, I need to clarify to myself why I work so hard for CAT (or for any company) for so long time. At the end I ask myself, "hey why don't you get self employed". So I googled for "how to be self employed". Jim Westergren's blog - Self-employment the way to go, was one of the top search result that catched my eye. And I read through his article; a story how he started his own company and how he was inspired by Steve Pavlina's blog entry - 10 Reasons You Should Never Get A Job.

Now the point of Pavlina's article is you should get paid by doing nothing. Steve said you should considered that it might be better to be paid even when you’re not working? How nice... He call it a passive income. He also said that after reading his article, it should trigger your anger. Well hell yeah, it looks like I'm so dumb slaving my 6 years working for other people. And I paused. Rewind my memory like a video player and think again.

A better response that I should take is that everything ever happened to me was written by Allah. Of course I don't know how to read my future, it is all about faith. I'm a muslim, and I should act one. There is always a reason for each action or path that you have choosed. That is how we mature. That is how we learn.

Back to the topic, why should I be a self employed? Maybe it is a bit to early to me, but I'm planning to set a business for my wive so that she has flexibility to work at home or open her own company. So back to research board then.

Blogger Beta Version

This is just an intro entry from me. Well I'm currently testing the Blogger Beta. I'm not so sure how to migrate my blogs from the previous version into this one. I did try but somehow my blogs is not supported. Weird. Well, let just try out all the feature first.

What so cool in this beta version is the template setting. The template layout is now controled by page element- the header, footer, blog post and the add-on element. This feature is so much alike the Google's Page Creator. Nifty idea.

The Posting form now has the tag alike field but they called label plus the post options.

Now let see how well the Beta version handle the sample codes:
<cfquery name="GetContact1" datasource="#dsn_MainDB#" username="#dsn_user#"
password="#dsn_pass#">

SELECT contact_id, name, state, address1, address2, city, district, postcode, country, phone, fax, email, website
FROM contact
WHERE publish = 1
AND sub_cat = 'DO
AND f_cat_id = '#TrailID#'
</cfquery>
Oh well, I think it is still the same.

For conclusion, I think the Beta version has improved significantly and it shows how well Blogger listen to the comments / critics made by the user. I like most of the features, even the hack is also available. And you know what, the Blogger Beta was launched on my 30th birthday (14-Aug-2006) . Ahahahaha Kudos.

So what happen to The Blue Planet Explorer (PageRank 3) and The Grand Auto Club (PageRank 5) ? Woah look at the Google's page rank difference. It tells you that a specialized blog gain more traffic compared to all-in-one blog. I'm going to transform the Blue Planet Explorer blog into a travel / photography blog and hopefully I can move the Grand Auto Club into Blogger Beta. So now I have 3 blogs to look after. Cool.

Welcome to Azo's Web Sphere

If you purposely or accidentally landed on my blog I would like to say Selamat Datang or Welcome to my humble blog Please do make yourself at home and relax your mind. If you are in hurry well at least you can bookmark or simply click I like it to save the URL. Who knows you might want to come back later.

What the heck is Azo anyway? AZO is an abbreviation from Azizul Ameir Online. I'm living in Malaysia and working in IT industry. This blog focus on current trend of web application technology, gadgets, widget, latest buff on the net and once in a while he takes a spin with some cool programming codes and tools for web or desktop application.

While researching some topic online, sometimes I use this blog as my online public bookmark. The same purpose can be accomplish using Stumble or Digg but I feel blogging is the best tool for now.

I have not decided yet which category that suit my blog beside the generic IT category. Since I'm using this blog to express how I feel or describing some details while touching some aspect of the IT topic. I'll try my best to specifically focus on IT industry in Malaysia and what the world has to offer globally.

This will sound like I'm desperate or something, but occasionally do drop me a note or two so that I would know that someone actually read my blog beside the Google bot. Enjoy
