By using the new template designer theme, Blogger now has the most robust, user friendly (yup even your mom can do it) that I ever wish for years.
One of the example that I wish for is the jump break (read more) feature that I used to hack on the previous Blogger version is now available on the Posting. Just a single click and an horizontal line break appears.
The other features that has improved are
- Auto Pagination that saved latency issue, meaning more time spend on reading rather than waiting for the page to load
- the new Share Button embedded on each post that let your blog readers easily share your post via email, Blogger, and popular social network like Google Buzz, Twitter, and Facebook
- Monetize tabs that display Adsense report, and choices of the ads arrangment.
- Create Pages, yup a static pages that you wish to fill with information like, About Us, Contac Us, Map, etc. Previously it is common to have tab navigation on custom template which normally linked to blog labels.
You might wondering why this enhancement is great. Well for a start, name a blog service that has the same or similar features? 1 or 2 maybe but does it offer the service for FREE? On top of that, does it provides facility to monetize your blog?
But the most significant reason why these enhancements are great at least to me is the fact that you probably won't need any 3rd party Javascript to customized your blog anymore. Some 3rd party are crucial like Google Analytic and it shouldn't have any problem it is maintained by Google itself. But other 3rd party Javascript that you add in form of widget or other stuff might have performance issue. Well unless you purposely want it to be that way, it is just a matter of choice.
